How to play Sliding Tiles

  1. Tap a tile next to the gap to slide it in.
  2. Get the top row right first, then the rest.
  3. The round is solved when the tiles read 1 to 8 with the gap in the last corner.

How it gets harder

The board stays at three by three so a round stays short. The shuffle changes every time, and some starts take far more moves than others.

Tips

  • Solve the top row, then the left column. The last four tiles go round in a loop.
  • Do not undo your last move. Going back and forth wastes time.

Playing Sliding Tiles as a family

Many adults remember plastic sliding puzzles from childhood. It is a nice one to show a child, and a fair fight once they have the trick.

Sliding Tiles is also one of the thirteen games in the Brainpilates daily mix. On days it comes up, everyone plays the same board, and you can send your result to someone as a challenge to beat.
